The National Food Authority has already hit 100.06 percent of its target palay procurement for the first half of 2024.

This was after the NFA secured 3,365,245 bags of palay out of the target of 3,363,100 bags as of June 13.

Overall, the agency has 168,262 metric tons (MT) of palay in all of its warehouses nationwide.

In a statement, NFA Administrator Larry Lacson thanked farmers for taking advantage of the new pricing scheme and selling more of their produce to the agency.

Lacson said all NFA warehouses remain open for palay procurement as the agency targets to secure 300,000 MT of milled rice for the country’s national buffer stock.

“We are continuously procuring palay from our local farmers under our Price Range Scheme or Pricers,” he said.

Under Pricers, the price per kg. for fresh or wet palay ranges from P17 to P23 and for clean and dry palay, P23 to P30. – PNA
