Bikers from Baguio and outlying towns of La Trinidad, Itogon, Sablan, Tuba, and Tublay, Benguet are up for another uphill bike race challenge as organizer Baguio Olympics will hold an adrenaline pumping event on Sept. 27.

The second edition of the uphill bike race, which is an individual time trial race with 10 categories, is part of the lined-up events in line with the city’s 111th Charter Day anniversary.

The categories are the open male mountain bike (MTB), open female MTB, and the open road bike for male and female riders.

The other age bracket categories are juniors (below 21 years old), master 1 (22 to 28 years old), master 2 (29 to 36 years old), master 3 (37 to 42 years old), master 4 (43 to 49 years old), and veterans (50 and above).

Riders will start at Kennon Road lion’s head at 8 a.m. then proceed to Loakan Road going to Kadaklan, Happy Hallow then towards Barangay Country Club Village going up to Barangay Outlook  then to the The Mansion lake as the finish line.

Organizers remind participants that each will start with a one-minute interval and will not be permitted to restart and must be at the starting line 15 minutes before their scheduled start. Support vehicles are not allowed and riders must wear the prescribed helmet during the race.

Race officials and participants must follow public health standards such as wearing of mask and maintain physical distancing protocols. Sharing of equipment is prohibited.

Bikers with the best times in each category will be entitled to cash incentives and medals.

Registration is until Sept. 25 with a fee of P500 inclusive of event shirt, snacks, race bib, and time certification. Those interested to join may register at the Explore Bikeshop along Legarda Road.

Only 111 participants from BLISTT will be accommodated for the race, according to race director Aris Matibag.
