Golf events have resumed in this mountain resort as the city government and the Baguio Olympics will co-sponsor the 111th Baguio Charter Day fun golf at the Baguio Country Club and Pinewoods Golf and Country Club on Sept. 26 to 27.

Only 100 players will be registered as official participants for the two-day tournament that will be divided into two groups.

The first group, composed of 50 players, will play at BCC then at Pinewoods the following day. The other 50 players will play at Pinewoods on the first day then at BCC the following day.

The event which is only open for amateur players will adopt the Molave system as a format of play while players will be categorized into class A, B, C, ladies A and B, and seniors depending on their September 2020 Unified National Handicapping System (UNHS) handicap.

Those with zero to 10 handicap will be under men’s class A while the ladies’ A will be composed of players with zero to 15 handicap.

The men’s B will be for players with 11 to 20 handicap while the ladies’ B are those with 16 and above handicap. Men’s C will be for those with 21 and above handicap.

Players who are not registered with UNHS are considered zero handicappers. In golf, rated players have single-digit handicap.

Each player will also be entitled to two mulligans, which they can use at the front nine and back nine. A mulligan cannot be used on the putting green.

The event with a registration fee of P3,500, which covers the registration in the two clubs will also entitle each player to a raffle, giveaways, packed snacks, and drinks.

A virtual awarding ceremony will be done to avoid crowding of players. Winners may claim their trophies and raffle prices at the Baguio Olympics office at 143 Kisad Road, which is also the registration site.

Organizers announced they will strictly follow the policies and guidelines set by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases during the tournament proper.
