Belingon, Adiwang eyed for potential super bouts

POTENTIAL SUPER BOUTS -- Top prospect Lito Adiwang and former ONE bantamweight world champion Kevin Belingon were listed as among the fighters who could be lined up for potential super bouts in Asia’s most dominant mixed martial arts organization. --  ONE photos

Two Team Lakay fighters are being floated as among those in the potential super bouts in the biggest mixed martial arts promotion in Asia in 2020.

Former ONE bantamweight world champion Kevin Belingon is being matched against John Lineker of Brazil, as the two fighters are among the best in the division.

Despite losing twice to the reigning ONE bantamweight world champion, the 32-year-old Belingon remains a top contender in the division given his explosiveness that is well-loved by MMA fans worldwide.

Over the years, Belingon has been displaying powerful strikes against every opponent he crosses paths with.

Belingon currently has 20 wins against seven losses while Lineker made his debut with ONE with an impressive unanimous decision against former world title contender Muin Gafurov.

The 29-year-old Brazilian fighter, who holds a record of 32 wins and nine losses, is one of the young but veteran fighters who fought with Ultimate Fighting Championship, the leading MMA promotion in the world.

Before he signed with ONE, Lineker made 17 appearances in the UFC and posted a record of 13 wins and four losses in the promotion.

Like Belingon, Lineker also possesses a high knockout rating.

But there is another rising bantamweight fighter from Japan, who openly challenged Belingon for a super bout next year.

Shuya Kamikubo, who has 11 wins and one loss, wants to fight the Ifugao native in a hope to improve his popularity.

Belingon has responded to the challenge, saying he could fight the Japanese fighter anytime and anywhere.

Another potential exciting bout being expected is when Lito Adiwang faces Bukang Masunyane, who is also a rising star in the strawweight division.

The 25-year-old Adiwang was once the hottest prospect on the ONE roster until he signed a contract last year and went on to stop Senzo Ikeda of Japan.

The undefeated Masunyane also made a huge splash in his ONE debut after comfortably beating Ryuto Sawada by wrestling out his Japanese counterpart en route to a unanimous decision win.
