Adiwang inspires fellow fighters
by Harley F. Palangchao

The entry of Team Lakay’s Lito Adiwang into the ONE main roster has inspired up and coming mixed martial arts fighters in the Cordillera to train harder.

The 24-year-old Adiwang will be ma-king his debut in Asia’s biggest media sports industry when he faces the gritty Senzo Ikeda of Japan in the strawweight match in the undercard of ONE: Century in Tokyo, Japan, Oct. 13.

Adiwang made it to the ONE main roster following three impressive victories in the Rich Franklin’s ONE Warrior Series.

His latest fight was on Aug. 6 where he emerged victorious via unanimous decision against Anthony Do of Vietnam.

Adiwang, who started as a professional MMA fighter in 2012, once left the country for greener pastures but decided  to resume training and pursue his career in combat sports.

He now has nine wins and two losses.

The 36-year-old Ikeda was not successful in his ONE debut when Danny Kingad defeated him via unanimous decision in ONE: A New Era last March.

Ikeda is a veteran fighter and has fought in several MMA promotions such as Pancrase before he signed a contract with ONE.

The Japanese fighter who turned pro in 2011 has 12 wins and seven losses.

Other fighters from the Cordillera who are currently fighting under the ONE Warrior Series have greater chances of joining the ONE main roster.

These fighters include Dave Bangguigui of Fight Corps MMA, Ismael Bandiwan and Jenny Olsim of Tribal Submission-Team Torogi, and Jerry Olsim of Team Lakay.
