The Baguio City National High School softball team spent time with the best players in the country during the tune up games held at BCNHS on Sept. 13 to 14.

City High coach Saxton Anayasan said the Bulacan Junior softball team shared to the local players technical skills in softball such as pitching mechanics, hitting mechanics, fielding mechanics, and mental toughness.

Anayasan, who initiated the tune up and joint trainings said their team needs more exposures and trainings, thus the meetup with the national softball team.

“We are behind when it comes to our ranking that’s why we need to upgrade our skill level, as our players need more exposure,” he said.

Coach Enrico Gravador of Sta. Maria, Bulacan led the national team, which recently represented the country in the World Series early this year.

The Softball Bulacan Team that represented the country won the title as overall champions in junior and senior divisions in the Little League Softball Asia-Pacific Tournament held in Jakarta, Indonesia on June 17 to 22.

The national team members all hail from Bulacan.

Anayasan, who is leading the BCNHS softball team for the second year, said that a joint training is set in December.

This will be in preparation for local and national tournaments like the Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association Meet, Batang Pinoy, Philippine Series, and the National Open.

Anayasan hopes the local softball team would improve its performance in upcoming sports events.
