Archers clinch 6-6-8 BP medals

The Baguio City Archery Club members continue to make their mark by reaping six gold, six silver and eight bronze medals at the Batang Pinoy national finals in Puerto Princesa, Palawan.

Consistent cadet archer Renian Keith Nawew won the two gold medals in the Olympic round and in the 50-meters aside from two silver medals in the 30-m., and single Fita round and two bronze medals in 40-m. and 60-m.

“I am so happy and blessed for God heard my prayers, to win the gold in my category. I hope to reap more medals in the upcoming competitions for His greater glory,” Nanew said.

Jemuelle Espiritu led the charge as he snatched the gold medal in the qualifying round in the bowman recurve boy’s category. He dominated the qualifying round by garnering 348 points far from his other opponents, but he fell second in the Olympic round after losing the last end from an archer from Koronadal City.

Danielle Jasmine Espiritu and Adrienne Ysabel Parayno were triumphant in winning medals in the cadet recurve girl’s category.

Espiritu of the University of Baguio won a silver medal after she lost from an shoot off with an archer from La Union. Added to her medals are three silvers from the 50-m., 60-m. and in single Fita rounds.

Parayno also pocketed one gold in 30-m.and three bronze medals in the 40-m., 50-m. and 60-m. and single Fita rounds.

During the last day of the competition, the team events didn’t stop shining as they reaped two golds, two silvers and one bronze medals.

Cadet girls team archers Keturah Collin Gonzales, Adrienne Ysabel Parayno and Resha Dawn Ronquillo won gold over the team archers of Pangasinan.

Cub girls team archers Mitz Mae Tabayag, Aya Victorio and Damaris Gabrielle Calera also bagged gold as they competed against the team archers of La Union.

Mixed team cadet archers Danielle Jasmin Espirtu and Earl Calera got a silver medal and mixed team bowman Phoebe Melz Caluza and Jemuelle James Espiritu also pocketed a silver medal.

Mixed team cub archers Alon Yuan Jucutan and Jerla Gaona garnered the bronze medal.

Despite their struggles with the slippery finger tab due to the heavy rains during the competition, and missing an arrow they were able to bounce back and made it to the top to howl medals for Baguio.
