Farrel, 17, rules Kafagway tourney against veterans

Baguio junior golfer Terence Farell fired a gross score of 68 points to emerge the overall champion in last weekend’s Kafagway Golf Tournament held at the Baguio Country Club.

The 17-year-old Farell simply dominated the tournament with a seven-over finish at the par-61 BCC fairway, and outscored some of the older and veteran players.

Mars Garcia had 47 Molave points to win the members’ men’s A, followed by Richard Difuntorum and Ed Basbas, while Derek Bautista had 41 points to win the members men’s B followed by Ely Lagman and Paraiso Bautista.

Basbas also won the most accurate drive special award.

The members’ ladies A championship trophy went to Nida Whybrow who scored 39 followed by Rachelle Julian and Nora Sy, while Letty Baquilar had 30 to win the members’ ladies B followed by Beth Patterson and Mel Donato.

The guests’ men A trophy went to Johnny Balaki who had 50 points followed by Frank Eduardo and Tony Fernandez, while the guests’ men’s B was topped by Pat Villanueva with 39 followed by Jun Alimba and George Dumawing.

Balaki likewise fired 293 yards for the longest drive award while Dinky Del-ong won the nearest to the pin.

Kim Minji had 46 to win the guests’ ladies division followed by Epi Gaston.
