Quezada & Antonio top Dr CMH run-for-a-cause

BROTHERS ON THE RUN -- The Ramos siblings, Josh, 17 and Dash, 12, stole the show in weekend’s Dr. Charles M. Hamada Memorial Run when they both placed second in the five and three-kilometer events. Their father, Jet, placed fifth in the 5K event. -- Harley Palangchao

Local runners Reymark Quezada and Kana Antonio topped the premier five-kilometer distance of the 1st Dr. Charles M. Hamada Memorial Run at Burnham Park on Labor Day.

But it was the Ramos family who also stole the show as three of them landed in the top five of the 5K and 3K categories of the run for-a-cause.

Quezada finished the race with a time of 20 minutes and 47 seconds (20:47) while Antonio clocked at 28:06.

Philippine Triathlon Team member Joshua Ramos placed second in the men’s 5K at 21:37 followed by Browner Ulanggi at 22:34, Julias Bay-an at 23:02, and Jet Ramos at 23:24.

Mebell Pil-o trailed Antonio with a time of 28:18 followed by Michelle Velasco with 28:58 then Asia Mariz Ayochok with 29:32 and Stephanie Loy at 29:35.

Cielo Peñaflor clocked at 14:70 to rule the men’s 3K followed by Dash Ramos at 15:53, RJ Balani at 16:45, Hnicko Clemente at 19:03 and Tony Guyguyon at 20:24.

Stephani Abnasan emerged as the women’s 3K champion with a time of 20:26 followed by Jillian Adawi at 23:50, Raquel Pataras at 24:15, Jonalyn Kimpay at 24:18, and Emabeth Fabro at 24:57.

The Regional Service Training Unit of Police Regional Office-Cordillera under Lt/Col. Dyan Bangcawayan won the special biggest contingent award of the event that will benefit the civic works of the Baguio Correspondents and Broadcasters Club.

The event was also in honor of Dr. C. M. Hamada, former publisher and general manager of Baguio Midland Courier, who helped several journalists in need when he was alive.

Emma Hamada, his widow, expressed her sincerest thanks to all the private sponsors, supporters, partners, and individuals for making the event successful.
