The sixth edition of the Rice Terraces Marathon is set June 15 to 16 in Hung-duan, Ifugao.

Trail runners may join the 21-kilometer, 42-km, or vertical runs.

The start and finish lines will be at the Heritage Village with the participants running through the Unesco world heritage Hapao Rice Terraces, waterfalls, hot and cold springs, old Spanish trail, and the Panique rice field.

The event would cater to 200 slots only with a registration fee of P1,800 for the 21-km; P2,800 for the 42-km and P950 for the vertical run. The fees are inclusive of environmental fees, personalized bib, certificate, carbohydrate load, breakfast, and post run meal.

Meals and shirts will be given to finishers in the 21-km and 42-km categories.

Cut off time for the 21-km is seven hours while 14 hours for the 42-km.

Last year, Ifugao’s very own Ivan Tayaban Buyayo clocked in at six hours, three minutes in the 42-km.

Cecilia Kiswa, meanwhile led the women finishing in the 42-km in seven hours, 38 minutes and 35 seconds time.

Hungduan came from the word “hung-du” meaning “to traverse through.”

This word means a place where a person traverses through on their way to another place, as people in the olden times traverse through Hungduan going to another municipality or place in nearby Benguet province.

The event is organized by Team Malaya and Team Hungduan.
