Fans await ONE decision on Lee-Folayang title bout
by Harley F. Palangchao

ONE Championship remains mum over public deman that former ONE lightweight world champion Eduard Folayang shiuld face reigning champion Christian Lee for the world strap.

The 35-year-old Folayang has already mentioned interest challenging the younger world champion, who shocked the world with a technical knockout of former world champion Shinya Aoki in Singapore last month.

Folayang described as impressive the performance of the 20-year-old Lee when he defeated Aoki, who is considered one of the best lightweight fighters in the world and a mixed martial arts legend in Japan.

The Igorot warrior agreed with the observation of MMA fans on why Lee was able to escape the armor from Aoki, who is known for being a world-class grappler ready for a next move when his opponent escapes a submission attempt.

Folayang himself suffered from the world-class grappling skills of Aoki who submitted him via arm-triangle choke in round one of the ONE: A New Era in Japan in March.

The Baguio City native said he is also ready to face other opponents if ONE decides that he will fight the winner in the ongoing ONE lightweight world grand prix.

The ONE lightweight world grand prix has already reached the semifinals with four world-class fighters vying for the top honor and the chance to face the world champion in the division.

On standby for the finals is Saygid Guseyn Arslanaliev, who defeated Amir Khan in their semi-finals match.

The Russian fighter will face the winner between Timofey Nastyukhin and Lowen Tynanes, who both defeated Folayang in the past.
