Fun run to help dialysis patients
by Wabilyn M. Lomong-oy

BAUKO, Mountain Province – The first Kataguan fun run organized by the local government of Bauko in coordination with the Kataguan Dialysis Patients Organization and the Maximo B. Dalog Foundation saw local athletes topping the events.

Local pride   Robin Aplaten topped the 18-kilometer race followed by IrpeelLapniten, Dece-Jan Burgos, Jarrett Ospig, and Miller Acdang.

Rowena Agang-ang topped the 18-K distaff side, trailed by Sandra Co, Irene Baltan, Pamela Kayachen, and Madeline Cudli.

Roldan Martines topped the men’s five-kilometer race followed by Rocky Ayochok, Jonathan Talim-ay, Patterson Ngateb, and Alexis Supsupin.

Ivy Becyagen dominated the distaff side followed by Julie Bandao, Glory Sapdoy, Rhea Bacungay and Jihan Sangaway.

The run is an offshoot of the annual Kataguan caravan “Drive for Life” that was conceptualized by the late Rep. Maximo B. Dalog Sr. to help the dialysis patients of Mountain Province by raising funds for their lifetime treatment. The caravan was held last March 2018.

The patients are members of the Kataguan Dialysis Patients Organization who are undergoing dialysis treatment in different centers within and outside the province.

Around 130 runners supported the event, generating P118,500. Organizers are waiting for the submission of other pledges and sponsorship from organizations and individuals.

The run started and ended at the Bauko municipal grounds in Abatan where a short program and awarding of winners culminated the event.
