The event, organized by BSU-Secondary Laboratory School Batch 2006 and 2008 in cooperation with BSU-Institute of Human Kinetics, features seven rounds Swiss system with 25-minute time control.

The registration fee for the kiddies division – 12 years old and below – is P150 for non-La Trinidad residents, P120 for La Trinidad residents, and P200 for late registration.

Registration fee in the open division regular – 22 years old and above – is P200, P150 for 13 to 21 years old, and P300 for late registration.

Winners for the competition in the kiddies’ division will bring home P2,000 for the first place; P1,000 for second place; P800 for the third place; P600 for the fourth; P400 for the fifth and P250 for the sixth to 10th place while a special prize of P250 will be given to the top lady player.

In a Swiss-system tournament, players are never eliminated; instead, players are paired in every round. The number of rounds is predetermined, and the winner is the player who earns the most points by the end of the tournament.
