Football tourney winners bared

The latest season of the Panagbenga Cup saw young athletes from various areas of Baguio and elsewhere stepping up their games on weekend.

Seven categories were played during the event, part of the proceeds of which benefited Danilo Pagaduan Jr., the athlete who represented the city during the Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association meet, but was hospitalized just after the event in Apayao.

The Cordillera Binnadang Football Club gave P10,000 to Pagaduan’s family, said coach Ariston Bocalan.

Hailed as the most valuable player for the seven-under 3-versus-3 category was Josh dela Cruz while the best striker was Mark Derick Galite. Champion for the category was the CBFC Crystal Cave Elementary School followed by Pinsao Football Team, CBFC Baguio Central School and CBFC. 

In the nine-under 3-versus-3, Quezon ES topped the event followed by Pinsao Football Team, CBFC Doña Aurora ES and CBFC Crystal Cave ES. Harvey Lance Elong was the group’s MVP and E Jay Hangdaan was named the best striker.

Ian Silva as MVP led the 11-under 3-versus-3 with Chris Benson as the best striker while the CBFC Crystal Cave ES A took the championship plum followed by Quezon ES, Pinsao Football Team and CBFC Crystal Cave ES B.

Kirby Tabelin ruled the 13 under boys 11-a-side as the MVP while Duff Lawagan was the best midfielder with Iver Badangen as the best striker.

Kevin Silva was named the best defender while Rex Morales was the best goalkeeper.

Topping the age category was CBFC A followed by Team Palaro, CBFC B, and UES Arsenal FC.

In the 17-under girls 5-versus-5 category, Team Palaro run away with the championship title followed by CBFC, Sampaloc Tanay Rizal FC and San Jose Football Team. Lorjane Aludos was hailed the MVP while Danica Kuengan was the best playmaker with Nicole Calsi as the best striker, then Raven Bungay as the best defender and Erika Kuengan as the best goalkeeper. 

In the boys 11-a-side, CBFC was on the top spot followed by Lagawe FC and Lubas FC. The group’s MVP was Junel Fianza; Jesar Domagus as best midfielder; Ivan Silva as best striker; Aeron Tenollar as best defender and Carl Beltran as best goalkeeper.

For the men’s open 11-a-side, CBFC Baguio City High School Alumni outclassed the rest of the teams followed by Baguio football Alumni Team, CBFC and Nuviz FC on third spot.

MVP of the group was Marvin Viray; Jhuie Peralta as best midfielder; Jenno Aquino as best striker; Miller Ackiapat as best defender and Bruce Malit as best goalkeeper.

Special event awardees are Marlon Tomin Jr. and Ian Ko as best jugglers in the elementary and secondary divisions, respectively.
