Veteran golfers top Baguio Day tourney

Seasoned par busters topped this year’s Baguio Day and Victory Day golf tournament that drew dozens of players at the Baguio Country Club fairway on Sept. 2.

Former junior golfer Chester Calpotura had the lowest gross of 59 while Richard Solang had the lowest net of 58 to become overall champions.

Calpotura also won the longest drive at hole three after firing 271 yards.

Multiple champion Fred Puckett had a net of 59 to emerge as champion in the elite men’s class A followed by John Felix and Harley Palangchao, who both hadnets of 60 for first and second runner-up, respectively.

Councilor Mike Lawana topped the men’s class B with a net of 59 followed by Ed Meneses and Patricio Eswag, who both had 60 for second and third place. Lawana also took home the special nearest to the pin award at hole one.

In the men’s class C, Tomas Chua had a net of 60 to the division champion followed by John Ray Libiran and Freddie Lazona, who both had 61.

Libiran also won the most accurate drive at hole 8.

Retired police general Manny Obrera won as seniors’ class A champion followed by Mayor Mauricio Domogan and Curtis Perry.

George Chua clinched the seniors’ class B champion trophy followed by Jun Tabanda and Dick Robbins.

The female champions were Cris Seraphine for class A, Mel Donato for class B, and Lanie Julian for class C.
