by Ofelia C. Empian

Not only will runners get a chance to be fit; they will also help those in need with the staging of a fun run to benefit the rehabilitation of children and young adults with disabilities, who are undergoing therapy and training for independent living at the Stimulation and Therapeutic Activity Center of Baguio, Inc.

Dubbed “Run for Amity 2018,” the event set on March 11 will feature the three-kilometer (3K), 5K, 11K, and 21K distances. It will be held within La Trinidad, Benguet and organized by JPCom Cares and STAC5-Baguio.

Start and finish line will be at the municipal gymnasium at Km. 5 with the 3K going through Strawberry Farm to the Benguet Agri Pinoy Trading Center then back and the 5K having a route towards the Strawberry Farm to the Puguis-Wangal Road then back.

The 11K route will pass through the Strawberry Farm to the Puguis-Wangal Road then to the Japanese Trail going to the Longlong Road and finally to the police outpost at the Lamtang-Tam-awan intersection then back.

Finally, the 21K will extend from the Lamtang-Tam-awan intersection towards the Lamtang Road then back to the starting line.

Registration is set at P300 for 3K, P400 for 5K, and P550 for 11K, and P700 to 21K. Inclusions for 3K and 5K are race bib, race shirt, finisher’s certificate, light snacks while 11K and 21K will have an additional finisher’s medal.

Listup centers are JPCOM CARES and STAC-5 Baguio at Lower Brookside, Baguio City; Generika Pharmacy at Calderon St. Baguio City (look for Louie Ganayan), Twilight Cafe at Lower Magsaysay (near flyover) at Dizon/Camdas Open; and the La Trinidad mayor’s office (look for George Babsa-ay Jr.).

Medals and tokens await the top five winners of the event also backed by Team Pinikpikan Trail Runners, Community for Children.

“It is also an invitation not only to run and support the event but to join the Municipality of La Trinidad in celebrating its annual event, the Strawberry Festival celebrated every March,” organizers said.

For inquiries contact STAC 5 at 422-2491 (STAC 5) or the mayor’s office at 0919-456-4823.
