Baguio Achiever’s Academy grade 8 student Iñigo Anton stormed into autocross racing by taking his maiden win in the Novice Championship during the first leg of the 2018 championship in Meycauayan Commercial Complex recently.

The 13- year-old Castrol-Yokohama champion driver blasted thru the 1.8-kilometer stage using the 190 horsepower Mark Young-Mohspeed prepared Honda EF on Neova AD08 tires in 57.01 seconds setting the novice best time of the day over Ryan Ablang and Brian Ngo who clocked 1:00.99 and 1:01.13 respectively.

Anton, the youngest and current national front-wheel drive Slalom Racing champion at age 13 also registered the 4th fastest time of the day overall in the All Honda class at 55.83 against over 100 experienced drivers from all over the country.

“Iñigo really worked hard for this and practiced thru the Christmas break to be in top form in 2018. I think he showed the caliber of his skills today. I did not expect him to have that kind of pace during his first Autocross,” said Carlos Anton of his son.

The younger Anton will also compete in the National Slalom Championship, Karting and endurance races this year.

Anton is backed by Castrol, Yokohama, Mark Young Racing, Mohspeed, Parts Pro, Works bell, JSD Autosport, Special Stage, Kilton and Kart Plaza.

Anton wrapped up 2017 by taking his 2nd major championship in the Slalom Series-Philippines by clinching the front wheel drive overall title against seasoned veterans in the sport.

The Castrol-Yokohama driver took the title during the final round held last December at Robinson Star Mills, Pampanga after taking his 6th front wheel drive best time of the day clocking 39.16 seconds around the tricky course.

The young Anton first wrapped up the novice championship last October outclassing his opponents and winning 11 of the 12 races.  He also clinched seven overall class wins making him the winningest driver in the 2017 Phoenix national slalom series.
