AGAINST ALL ODDS -- Off-road enthusiasts from Baguio and Benguet saw action in the extreme and stock divisions of the 4th Kapangan 4x4 off-road challenge held at Datakan, Kapangan, Benguet on weekend.
-- Rose Celine Jimenez

The 4th Kapangan 4x4 Off-Road Challenge saw visitors sweeping the awards after a thrilling off-road event on June 30 at Datakan, Kapangan, Benguet.

Paul Agana from Mankayan topped the extreme division finishing the course within four minutes and 48 seconds while Ashley Moreno from La Trinidad place second with a gap of one minute and 49 seconds from Agana.

Jim Madayag from Kabayan placed third with a time of nine minutes and one second while Murphy Taquio of La Trinidad completed the top four finishers with a time of nine minutes and 13 seconds.

Osburn Visaya from La Trinidad is the champion in the stock division with a time of one minute and 17 seconds while Harvey (only first name in registration) placed second with a time of one minute and 38 seconds.

Placing third was Tyrel (first name only) with a time of five minutes and four seconds while Ryan Torio of La Trinidad failed to finish the course.

Many participants failed to finish the track due to mud that kept plunging the off-road vehicles deeper into the soil. Vehicles stuck in the mud had to be pulled out with a wrench of another vehicle from the track and had to overcome the obstacles until the drivers deem it impossible to cross.

The event was organized by the Kapangan municipal government, Baguio-Baguio Benguet 4x4 Off-road Club Inc., and private sponsors.
