Itogonia run slated Aug 19
by Ofelia C. Empian

Running enthusiasts looking for an outdoor run are set to converge on Aug. 19 during the “Itogonia Wild Country” trail run event.

The trail run is set at Camp John Hay’s old trails going towards the Ampucao ridgeline in Itogon, Benguet.

The run, which features eight-kilometer, 16K, and 32K, will be hosted by Active Pinas, Team Malaya, Amihan Sports Gear and Pinoy Trails.

“The route in between is a blend of lightning fast descents to jaw clenching climbs, all while giving you front row views of Itogon that you’ve never seen,” the organizers said.

Fees are set at P2,000 for 32K inclusive of bib, event shirt, Amihan Go Lite V2 waist pouch, finisher’s medal, post-race barbeque and cold drink, raffle and certificate; P1,000 for 16K inclusive of bib, event shirt, finisher’s medal, post-race BBQ and cold drink, raffle and certificate and P600 for 8K with bib, event shirt, finisher’s medal, post-race snacks, raffle and certificate.

Bonafide Itogon residents can avail of the 50 free complimentary race bibs along with a finisher’s certificate, food and drinks at the finish line. Itogon residents who want to avail the full inclusions may register for the standard package.

“A winner with a complimentary race bib may have a shot at the podium awards and prizes given that he/she has complied with the rules and regulations, such as the mandatory gears,” the organizers added.

Mandatory gears are whistle, hydration system of at least 500 ml, extra trail food, first aid kit, mobile phone, and headlamp or flashlight. Runners are also recommended to bring a rain jacket, camera/GoPro, and cash with them.

Awards and trophies will be given to the top five male and female winners for each category. Time limits will be set per category with 8K at three hours, five hours for 16K and 10 hours for 32K.

In-store registration is set in Baguio at SM Baguio, Suntrust booth (noon to 7 p.m.), Toyville Centermall and Cinco Antonios, Mines View (7 a.m. to 6 p.m.).

Registrants from Manila can go to Team HueBeast and Maximus Athlete’s Café in Mandaluyong.
