Boxing at People’s Park features visiting fighters

Boxing fans will be treated anew with exciting bouts as upcoming boxers from all over the country will see action in the Great Fights at the Heights at People’s Park in Baguio on April 14.

The event presented by the city government of Baguio and the Raffy Panagan Sports Promotion will feature the bout between Ryan Ponteras of Braveheart Boxing Stable defending his Philippine flyweight belt against Genesis Lebranza of Manny Pacquiao Boxing Gym in the main event.

The event that will start at 2 p.m. will also feature two supporting main events with rising boxers accepting the challenge.

Juanito Paredes of Olivares Boxing Stable will be up against Junjie Lausa of Triple R Boxing Gym in an eight-round battle in the 126 pounds.

Jimmy Borbon of Hardstone Boxing Stable will face Jerwin Mejes of Academy Boxing Stable, also in eight-round battle in the 125 lbs.

The event sanctioned by the Games and Amusement Board and supported by the Philippine Amusement Games Corp., Pagcor, Benguet Electric Cooperative, Xentro Mall, Tiongsan, Veterans Bank and Landbank will also have four six-round preliminary bouts.

Up for the challenge in the preliminaries are Jayson Vayson of Braveheart Boxing Stable versus Alvin Tayo of Peñalosa Boxing Gym in the 105 lbs. while Enrique Magsalin of Alliance Boxing will fight Rod Michael Sarguilla of Ortega Boxing in the 108 lbs.

Extreme Lab Boxing’s Manny Mamacquiao will face Reynaldo Condes of Olivares Boxing in the 112 lbs while Ariel Puton will square off with Rex Lagane in the 130 lbs.

Private individuals and establishments in Baguio have pledged to support the event that aims to raise funds for civic missions.
