Team Palaro sweeps Strawberry cup 2018

DEFYING LIMITATIONS -- Football has gained ground in the Cordillera that even physically challenged individuals would love to test their limitations during the recent Strawberry Festival 2018 for the love of the most popular sport in the world. -- CBFC photo

Team Palaro ruled the recently concluded Strawberry Cup participated by various football enthusiasts at the Benguet Sports Center from March 31 to April 1.

The football athletes who are getting ready for the upcoming Palarong Pambansa set from April 16 to 20 in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur topped the 10-under, 12-under, 17-under girls and boys and the ladies open categories.

Following Team Palaro in the 10-under category were the Cordillera Binnadang Football Club-Ayaka and Greenville Football team.

Maynard Carpio is the most valuable player while Charles Abad is the best striker. Neo Dacanay was named best defender while Kirk Balacwid was the best goalkeeper.

In the 12-under category, Klyde Abing was crowned the MVP plum while Iver Bangaden was the best striker with Charlston Sabey and Kurt Lumaang as the best defender and best goalkeeper, respectively.

On second spot in the 12-under was Team Palaro A followed by CBFC-City High and CBFC-Quezon Hill National High School.

Richelle Pagaspas was the MVP in the 17-under girls with Kara Alinsug as the best striker, Jan Aveya Buenaventura as the best defender, and Yohan Buenaventura as the best goalkeeper. Team Palaro championed the category followed by CBFC-City High, CBFC-Guisad Valley NHS and CBFC-Quezon Hill NHS in that order.

The 17-under boys saw the topnotch performance of Rael Collado, who was named MVP while JunuelFianza was the best striker with Shran Dyrick Vicente as the best defender and Mark Bie as the best goalkeeper.

Team Palaro B topped the category followed by Team Palaro A, CBFC-Quezon Hill NHS and Berkeley School in that order.

Day two of the event saw Balili Football Association leading the 14-under category followed by CBFC-City High, CBFC-Quezon Hill NHS and Berkeley School. MVP was Dave Shan Bangaden while the best striker was Joshua Ochavillo with Ivan Silva and Hardee Balatbat as the  best defender and best goalkeeper, respectively.

Team Cordillera Palaro still ruled the ladies open followed by CBFC-City High, Dagupan Football Club and CBFC-Quezon Hill NHS. The awardees were Kara Alinsug as the MVP, Aliyah Malit as the best striker, Pagaspas as the best defender, and Yohan Buenaventura as the best goalkeeper.

Osama Football Team led the men’s open followed by Wangal Warriors, CBFC-Senior Team and CBFC-Quezon Hill NHS in that order with Hasan Arab as the MVP, Ammar Nasser as the best striker, Samuel Mendoza as the best defender, and Ismail Almasoudy as the best goalkeeper.
