The father and son tandem of Castrol-Yokohama champions Carlos and Iñigo Anton continues to reap honors for Baguio when they topped their respective categories in the Petron Race of Champions.

The race held at the Subic Lemans Track and drew top racers saw the 13-year-old Iñigo setting two lap records while on board his trusty Mark Young-Mohspeed prepared Honda EF.

The Baguio Achiever’s Academy student first topped the super “Battle Time” sheets with a time of 28.52 seconds then for the “Future Champions” race on board a Kia Picanto setting an unbeatable 32.6 seconds in complete darkness.

His multi-awarded father, Carlos, took home the front wheel open category in the “Super Battle” event with a time of 28.7.

The Baguio outstanding citizen also won the “Present Champions” race over top Drifters Auden Sison and John Boban.

“Iñigo and I had so much fun in this event because we had to set times against other champions all using the same car.  I’m glad we came out on top because it was really tough,” said the older Anton after the race organized by legendary racing champion Mike Potenciano.

Junior drivers Marky Dave Young, at only 12 and the youngest in the field, and Romina Young, 15, both won third place in their respective divisions.

Team principal Mark Young checked in for second place in his category and team manager Jason Young was quickest of them all in the arrive and drive class.

“The team did really well today and with the new breed of racers we have, I think the team will continue to be a force to reckon with in Philippine racing,” Young said.

The team is backed by Castrol, Yokohama, Mohspeed, Special Stage, JSD Autosport, Parts Pro, Works Bell, Kilton, Kart Plaza, and Edgesport.
