Four more Igorot fighters to fight for ONE on Nov 10
by Harley F. Palangchao

Four more Team Lakay fighters could be added to the ONE:Legends of the World to be headlined by ONE lightweight world champion Eduard Folayang against ONE featherweight champ Martin Nguyen at the SM Mall of Asia Arena on Nov. 10.

On the line are top contenders Kevin Belingon, Danny Kingad, Joshua Pacio, and Gina Iniong.

Lakay head coach Mark Sangiao said they have yet to receive word as to who will be the opponents of the all-Cordilleran fighters, who are expected to bring fireworks before thousands of MMA fans in Manila.

With almost a month before the fight night, Folayang and his teammates have been training hard in Baguio and Benguet.

“The fighters are preparing their game plan, as they will surely face worthy opponents,” Sangiao said.

He said Folayang has been in the training camp even before ONE announced a cross-divisional showdown with Nguyen, the new MMA superstar from Australia.

Nguyen possesses a solid right hand counter punch that knocked out former undefeated ONE featherweight champion Marat Gafurov.

Belingon, on other hand, could be facing a formidable South Korean fighter although fight fans want a rematch between the Ifugao fighter and reigning ONE bantamweight champion Bibiano Fernandes.

Kingadis is also reported to be a possible contender for a title bout in the flyweight division. He is undefeated in his five pro and several amateur fights.

Iniong, on the other hand, will be back in action since her successful debut with ONE against Natalie Hills in April this year. The Igorota fighter has showed striking superiority that won for her via unanimous decision.

Pacio is expected to redeem himself from a rear naked choke loss to undefeated Hayato Suzuki last August when he returns to the cage next month.

The 21-year-old former straw weight top contender went back on the top ranking in the division following his split decision victory against former ONE champion Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke.
