All set for Battle XIV: Battle for Dominance
by Harley F. Palangchao

HEADLINERS -- PO1 Crisanto Pitpitunge spars with Stephen Loman, as both fighters will be in the main cards of two separate MMA promotions. Pitpitunge will be in the main card of Team Lakay Championships XIV on Oct. 14 while Loman will battle for the Brave Combat Federation bantamweight world belt on Nov. 17. -- Harley Palangchao

PO1 Crisanto “The Slugger” Pitpitunge will carry not only the Team Lakay but also the Philippine National Police when he fights Ralf Noy Francisco in the main event of TL Championship XIV at the Baguio Convention Center on Nov. 14.

Gate opens at 5 p.m. and fight night starts at 7 p.m.

The Police Regional Office-Cordillera has cleared Pitpitunge to be back in the cage following a memorandum of agreement between his team and the regional police command. Pitpitunge and his team have been teaching martial arts to several police personnel.

With both possessing superior striking skills, Pitpitunge and Francisco of D’ Elements MMA are expected to excite the crowd when they go toe-to-toe inside the cage.

Pitpitunge, former Pacific Xtreme Combat bantamweight world champion, last fought in PXC 52 where Kai Kara France defeated him in March 2016.

The Igorot fighter from Kapangan, Benguet could have been a two-division PXC world champion had he defeated Jenel Lausa, who earned a controversial split decision victory in PXC 51. Lausa was later picked by Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Dubbed: “Battle for Dominance,” the event backed by the city government of Baguio also features PXC fighter Jon Chris Corton of Team Lakay against Junior Diapolit of Davao City in the co-main event of the night.

Corton, who has four wins and three losses, has not been in action for more than a year following his decision loss against Riley Dutro in PXC 53 in April 2016.

The fighting architect in Mark Tidang from the Kalanguya ethno group is in the undercard against Jessdan Dela Pena of Tribal Torogi Gym while Vincent Velaque, who has three wins, will face Kenneth Banasan of Tribal Torogi, who has 1-1 record.

TLC XIV also featured two K-1 events.
