Mixed martial arts fighter Ariel Lee Lampacan is the newest addition to the illustrious champions from the Cordillera after winning the World Muay Thai Charity Asia bantamweight championship belt in Hong Kong recently.

The fighting pride of Itogon, Benguet shocked the martial arts community when he outdueled more veteran fighter B Kwok of Hong Kong in their scheduled three three-minute rounds encounter in the 54 kilograms.

Lampacan, who fights as flyweight in the Universal Reality Combat Championship, has three wins and one loss prior to the fight while Kwok has 23 wins, five losses, and one draw.

While his opponent has won seven championship belts from 2013 to 2016, Lampacan, a proud son of a miner, proved that the heart of an Igorot warrior can overcome all adversaries leading to an impressive win against the champion from Hong Kong.

Lampacan of Subsports Philippines wowed the crowd gathered at the Kowloon Bay International Trade and Exhibition Center with his superior display of striking skills.

URCC lauded Lampacan’s recent victory and challenged the Igorot fighter to strive harder and be a top contender in his division in the oldest MMA promotion in Southeast Asia.

Lampacan nailed back-to-back wins in URCC by defeating Joe Vincent So via technical knockout in January 2017. He followed it up with another TKO win against Donald Adam in URCC BETS 2 last April.

Itogon officials led by Mayor Victor Palangdan honored Lampacan for his latest accomplishment in the field of combat sports, saying he serves as an inspiration to the youth in his hometown.
