Homegrown taekwondo athletes shine in the latest staging of the International Taekwondo Festival in California, U.S.A. on May 20.

The young athletes brought home a total of 16 gold, five silver, and eight bronze medals during the event slated at the Grand Arena Industry Hill Expo Center. 

Gold medalists for the poomsae event are Michael Vincent Morte, Matthew Vaughn Morte, Abrianna Lexsis Dy, Lindsay Adrienne Dy, and Angel Louise Dy all from Small World Christian School Foundation.

Other gold medalists for the poomsae event are Larissa Austine Dy (Ateneo de Manila), Marcus Vinz Morte (Berkeley School), Rendon, Dariell Bulatao (University of Baguio Science High), Linden Kirk Carolino (Mt. Carmel Montessori), Cherubim Primo II Tinipac (Saint Louis University-Laboratory High School), John Gervin Astrologio (San Beda College), Joshua Ira Dizon (University of the Cordilleras), Donna Rose Bulatao (SLU), Herschelle Gaye Tinipac (graduated from Benguet State University), and playing coach Melvin Morte.

Arvin Jaymes Fajardo (SLU-LHS) also struck gold in the sparring event.

Meshach Vanz Morte (SWCSF) and Alfritz Arevalo (SLU-LHS) are silver medalists in the poomsae event while Khristian Daniel Mamitag (UB-LHS) settled for bronze in the poomsae event.

In the sparring event, Michael Vincent Morte (Small World Christian School Foundation), Matthew Vaughn Morte (Small World Christian School Foundation), and Herschelle Gaye Tinipac bagged silver medals during the competition.

Bronze medalists are Marcus Vinz Morte (Berkeley School), Abrianna Lexsis Dy (Small World Christian School Foundation), Lindsay Adrienne Dy (Small World Christian School Foundation), Angel Louise Dy (Small World Christian School Foundation), Linden Kirk Carolino (Mt. Carmel Montessori), Rendon Dariell Bulatao (UB Science High), and Khristian Daniel Mamitag (UB-LHS).

Team Baguio delegation was headed by coach Melvin Morte during the yearly event attended by over 5,000 attendees all over the world.
