3 Lakay fighters pitted vs formidable foes in ONE 47
by Harley F. Palangchao

SET FOR MACAU FIGHT -- Team Lakay fighters Eduard Folayang,  Honorio Banario, and Joshua Pacio hold rigid training in Baguio and La Trinidad, Benguet with less than three weeks before their fight in the ONE Championship 47 in Macau on Aug. 13. -- Harley Palangchao

ONE Championship has officially announced the opponents of three Team Lakay warriors in its 47th event with Eduard Folayang expected to give his best against a more veteran MMA fighter from Australia.

The two other Lakay fighters booked for the ONE: Heroes of the World set at the Cotai Arena in The Venetian Macau, China on Aug. 13 are Honorio Banario and Joshua Pacio.

Folayang will face 38-year-old Adrian Pang of Australia who now has 22 wins and eight losses and has been a veteran in MMA for 15 years.

The lightweight foreign fighter had fought in different MMA promotions before signing with ONE Championship in 2014. He has defeated two of the top lightweights including Peter Davis of Malaysia, whom he defeated in 48 seconds via punches in October 2015.

But the 32-year-old Folayang has come a long way and has the heart of an Igorot warrior, an advantage he capitalizes in outclassing several top contenders in his division.

The bemedalled wushu athlete, who won for the Philippines several gold medals in international competitions, has improved his grappling over the years.

Former ONE featherweight champion Banario will go toe-to-toe against Eddie Ng of Malaysia in the lightweight division.

The 26-year-old Banario came from an impressive unanimous decision in his last fight in April against Vaughn Donayre.

Banario, who feels comfortable in the lightweight division, now has nine wins and six losses while Ng has seven wins and three losses.

Lakay prospect Pacio will be up against Thai national wrestling champion Kritsada “Dream Man” Konsrichai in the strawweight division.

The young Pacio has a fight record advantage with seven wins as a professional MMA fighter and two wins from his amateur days. He has not suffered defeat since he started his career.
Konscrichai, on the other hand, has four wins and two losses.

Filipino veteran Jimmy Yabo will complete the fighters from the Philippines. He will take on Chinese prospect Ma Jai Wen.
