Brent Run 4 raises P150K to help rebuild 2 schools

Southeast Asian Games gold medalist Cristabel Martes proved anew her toughness through a run-for-a-cause that raised P150,000 to help rebuild two schools damaged by Typhoon Yolanda.

Martes zoomed to the finish line of the fourth edition of Brent Run on Sunday and clocked 1:36:23 to rule the distaff side of the 22-kilometer ca-tegory of the run-for-a-cause with Brent International School grounds as start and finish line.

The 34-year-old Martes, who was a gold medalist in the South East Asian Games twice in 2001 and 2005,  was trailed some 30 minutes after crossing the finish line by Rowena Ba-a and Lua Limbo.

Ba-a and Limbo clocked 2:02:19 and 2:10:50, respectively, to complete the top three female podium finishers in 22K.

Fast rising runner Cesar Castañeto Jr., a proud University of the Cordilleras Jaguar, emerged as the fastest among all runners who competed in 22K with a time of 1:33:24.

Mark Christian Garcia came very close to Castañeto by clocking at 1:33:37 while Leo Javier completed the top three men finishers at 1:39:38.

Completing the top 10 in men’s 22K are Donald Donaal, Enrico Arceo, Romeo Marcos Pedro, Alfredo Tangpoz, Avile Estigoy, Sairou Jade Macayana, Milton Beset, Paranis Aritao, and Jasper Garcia.

The top four to 10 female 22K finishers are Lua Limbo, Lou Ann Ramos, Girlie Rose Cawa, Rhuena Biala, Laura Buchan, Susan Ferrer, Phougina Frances Tarnate, Katrina Vancil, Gladys Alicdo, and Miel Caballero.

In the 11K, it took The North Face 22K champion Aldrin Seño 48:38 to finish the race while Joneleo Dis-ing came in second with 49:38 race time.

The third male finisher (no name indicated) finished at 50:14.

Annaliza Maraan topped the 11K distaff with a time of 1:03:59 while Kalyani Nam and Joy Lumpias finished second and third clocking at 1:12:04 and 1:14:52 in that order.

In the 3K men’s, Vinzon Ramos finished the race with a time of 14:33 followed by Peñaflor Cielo at 14:54 and Eugene Seño at 15:55 respectively while  Kelly Shin and Russia Egmalis ruled the female side with time of 25:21 and 27:19 respectively.

In third place was Karen May Bengmaso at 27:19.

Melan Marquez-Ku, one of the event organizers, thanked all those who supported the event, saying the entire amount raised through the event will go to the relief drive.

The event held to support to the “Schools for Schools” relief drive of Brent International School Manila is backed by Joypop Amusement Game Center, SM City Baguio, Baguio Palace Hotel, Pepsi/Gatorade, Sakura Filters, Centrum Fuel, Boogaling mini-mart, NLMAC, Cloud Nine Studio, Chaya, BB-PICAG, and the Baguio Photographers Club.
