BSU wins football title of 27th BBEAL season
by Harley F. Palangchao

Benguet State University, the school with good background in football, emerged as champion in the football event of the Baguio-Benguet Educational Athletic League over the weekend.

It was a sweet victory for the BSU Wildcats as they topped other athletes from participating schools in their own football fields in La Trinidad, Benguet.

St. Louis University Navigators placed second with University of Baguio Cardinals in third spot.

Philippine Military Academy Cadets were in last place.

The SLU Navigators, meanwhile, remained king of baseball in the biggest collegiate sporting league in the region.

The defending champion won yet another title for the school as it defeated BSU Wildcats in their own court over the weekend.

In third place are the Philippine Military Academy cadets while UB Cardinals settled for fourth place.

Combative sports, meanwhile, resumed yesterday and today, Sunday, in the University of the Cordilleras and Cordillera Career and Development College gymnasiums.

The schools for wushu are CCDC, University of Baguio, UC, Saint Louis University, PMA, BSU, and Pines City Colleges.

The athletics, which was dominated by UB last season, will be played at the Teacher’s Camp on Feb. 15 and 16.

The other special events such as the fun run, search for Mr. and Ms. BBEAL, beach volleyball, closing gala, and awards nights are set next month, according to the BBEAL executive committee.

The first love run was successfully held yesterday, Saturday.

Among those who joined the run are students, faculty members and alumni of the BBEAL participating schools and newest member Baguio College of Technology.

The event is a side event of BBEAL in a bid to fund other activities of the biggest collegiate sporting league in the region.
