Two promising MMA fighter headline Team Lakay tourney
by Harley Palangchao

Two rising fighters will co-headline the mixed martial arts event of the Team Lakay Championship at the Baguio Convention Center on April 27.

Undefeated Stephen “Sniper” Loman of Team Lakay will face Carlo Laurel of FWMMA while John Cris Corton also of Team Lakay faces Venson Delopere also of FWMMA.

Loman was undefeated in his two major fights in 2012 having won gold in the 58-64 kilogram of the 10th Team Lakay Grappler’s Cup in July then he won via technical knockout on Ryan Lim in the WXME6: Total Domination in December.

Loman’s winning streak was unstoppable as he also demolished Muay Thai fighter Alvin Velasco and won via TKO in the Universal Reality Combat Championship 5 held at the Baguio Convention Center last month.

Corton, who was not lucky in his MMA debut in the URCC in Baguio, hopes to make a comeback when he faces Delopere.

Team Lakay’s Harold Banario will headline the eight line-ups of wushu-sanda of the Team Lakay Championship against Johny Bitaga of Muay Boran.

Banario is the younger brother of first Filipino One Fighting Championship bantamweight title holder Honorio.

Three more Team Lakay fighters in Rizalino Olivar, Danny Kingad, and Jaime Langwawey will face University of Baguio Sanshou Team fighters Roy Dumar, Glen Fawagan and Miguel Amyao in that order.

Two fighters from Mongoose Team of Bontoc, Mountain Province, Eleazar Mi-ing and Wilner Lizardo, will also face two Lakay fighters in Lemer Maximino and Joshua Pacio, respectively.

Completing the fighters are Ronel Capan of Lakay San Fernando, who will face John Erick Angyab of BSU Muay Boran and Edison Dangla of Lakay Central Gym who is up against Steward Osting of UB Sanshou Team.

The Team Lakay Championship starts at 7 p.m. with ticket prices at P150 and P300.

MMA fans are advised to reserve their tickets by contacting Team Lakay secretariat at 0907-693-5608 and 0907-734-1311.
