by Harley Palangchao

The Young Men’s Christian Association is hosting a badminton invitational tournament from Aug. 24 to 26, which is expected to draw countless players from all over the region.

YMCA announced the tournament is open to clubs and individual enthusiasts, including players from educational institutions.

The tournament will feature three categories for men and women with different levels.

Among the categories are men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles for the senior division with at least six levels of play. There will also be boy’s doubles, girl’s doubles, and mix doubles with two levels each in the 1-35 rally point, best of three sets, single round robin competition for the elementary and high school division.

Trophies will be given to the champion and the first runner-up of the event that aims to promote sportsmanship and camaraderie in the game.

Rules in the Philippine Badminton Association and the International Badminton Federation will be followed.

YMCA reminded players and clubs to submit their accomplished forms on or before Aug. 22 at YMCA Baguio at Upper Session Road.

Registration for the seniors division will be at P250 per player/event while the high school and elementary divisions will be at P200 and P150, respectively.

Interested participants may visit the YMCA Office at the Post Office Loop, Baguio City or call 442-4766 and 619-8597.  They may also get in touch with Jay Claveria at 0912-641-3743.
