After their heated head-on clash two years ago, Luzproba’s no. 1 Charlie Angel gets a rare chance to get even with his former tormentor Mike Tumbaga when the Obidos-Highland Boxing Promotion unfolds on March 13 at the La Trinidad municipal gym.
“The Return Bout: Matira ang Matibay” pro boxing match will promptly start at 2:30 p.m.
Tumbaga, of Highland boxing stable and rated no. 12 in the country won by a split decision over Angel in the first Yanigan ng Kamao organized also by Highland Boxing Promotions.
The Angel-Tumbaga main event will feature eight rounds in the 130 lbs weight division.
Another Tumbaga, Edwin, from the Brico Santig stable and RP rated no. 11 will also face a separate opponent in Julius Agcopra of Cagayan de Oro of the Elorde boxing gym and RP rated no. 12 in the eight-round 113 lbs category.
Young and promising Remuel Obidos of the Obidos battles Glimer Mendoza of the Mones stable in the other eight-round bout while Cris Omayao from Panagan stable tests the mettle of Christian Manguran of Alegra stable.
Two exhibition bouts including four bouts in amateur muaythai will be featured in the event sanctioned by the Games and Amusements Board.
WBA-PABA champion Rey Megrino faces RP rated no. 8 Jello Merlin in the 115 lb-category while La Trinidad’s pride Elmer Francisco squares off with Randy Megrino in the 120-lb. weight category.
Flexing their kickboxing prowess in the other bouts are Alny Garambas of Highland Boxing battling Kenny Valdez of Team Muayboran; Lord Molina of Highland Boxing facing Zalde Sabaway of Team Muayboran; Randy Bullong of Highland Boxing fighting Rex Wa-o of Team Muayboran; and Roldan Bullong testing Felixander Bagayao of Team Muayboran.
Meanwhile, a welterweight champion and Igorot mixed martial arts gladiator will rough it up anew against challengers in the Colt 45 URCC XVI “Reckoning” on March 27 at the A. Venue Events Hall in Manila.
Headlining the fight card is former SEA Games and Asian Games veteran Edward Folayang facing off with NEOFight Korea’s Dooje Chung! Folayang will be defending his title against Chung, a Jiu Jitsu expert and member of Korea’s National Gymnastics Team.
Making a long awaited comeback is URCC’s original Dancing Devil and MMA star, Richard Lasprilla of Team DEFTAC going against up and coming MMA fighter Angelo Estanol.
The Colt 45 URCC XVI is a successful follow-up event to the recent URCC XV.
