9,000 PNP facing admin charges
by DILG release

Despite lingering controversies, the Department of the Interior and Local Government said the Philippine National Police’s  (PNP) continuous internal cleansing efforts have borne fruit leading to the filing of administrative cases against 9,172 erring personnel.

Sec. Eduardo M. Año said that these efforts are the ones that the public is largely unaware of, especially in the wake of the issue hounding the police organization.

According to the latest data of the PNP, of the 9,172 administrative cases filed against erring PNP personnel, 51 percent or 4,721 were suspended.

Meanwhile, 31 percent or 2,806 PNP personnel were dismissed from the service.

He added that 762 PNP personnel were reprimanded; 535 were demoted; 208 experienced salary forfeiture; 80 PNP personnel’s privileges were withheld; and 60 are currently restricted.

The DILG Chief added that the current revamp implemented by PNP Officer-in-Charge Lieutenant General Archie Gamboa shows that the PNP leadership is “committed to give emphasis on their internal cleansing efforts.”
