Top cop course opens at PRO-Cor
by Ofelia C. Empian

Fifty-three top cops from the various towns and cities of the Cordillera and Region 2 will undergo a series of trainings during the chief of police qualification course that opened Nov. 21 at the Police Regional Office - Cordillera headquarters in Camp Bado Dangwa.

The police officers with 18 participants from PRO-2 and 35 from PRO-Cor will go through 18 days of leadership skills training.

The course provides a formal training on Managing Police Operations to all PNP personnel assigned and designa-ted as chief of police.

M/Gen. Amador Corpuz, Director of the Directorate of Human Resource and Doctrine Development in Camp Crame, who opened the COP qualification course, encouraged the various top cops to further push themselves to improve their leadership skills.

“Random operational audits in police stations have revealed the need to further improve the competencies of chiefs of police in managing police and patrol operations in their respective area of responsibility,” Corpuz said.

Corpuz said the nationwide program was newly launched at the PRO-Cor due to the reputation Cordillera cops have as the most disciplined police officers in the country.

“We want to prove why Cordillera cops are not corrupt. Ano bang meron sa Cordillera at napakatibay ng dibdib laban sa corruption?” Corpuz said.

Prior to opening the COP course, Corpuz talked to human resource officials of the PRO-Cor and said the values that the region’s cops have enable them to be effective in their work.

Iyan ang ipakita niyo through good deeds,” he said, adding the HRDD is now planning to institutionalize a ‘good deeds’ program as part of its values-formation program.

The COP qualification training emerged with the ultimate goal of conditioning the middle management particularly the COPs in their relentless and continuing effort on anti-criminality campaign, patrol operations, Performance Governance System, and most especially leadership skills in handling their men in the field.
