PARTNERS -- The Police Regional Office-Cordillera led by Director B/Gen. Israel Ephraim Dickson culminated the 24th Police Community Relations month celebration with Benguet Gov. Melchor Diclas as guest of honor. The police office recognized its partners from the various sectors including former Baguio mayor Mauricio Domogan and former Benguet governor Crescencio Pacalso. The Police Regional Office-Cordillera culminated the 24th Police-Community Relations (PCR) Month celebrations with Benguet Gov. Melchor Diclas as the guest of honor and speaker at Camp Major Bado Dangwa, La Trinidad, Benguet.

The program was highlighted by the awarding of outstanding Philippine National Police personnel and units and stakeholders who displayed significant contributions and invaluable services leading to the attainment of PCR activities.

Diclas presented the awards, assisted by the members of the command group led by B/Gen. Israel Ephraim T. Dickson.

For the individual awards, plaques of recognition were given to Lt./Col. Tessie B. Sarmiento of Benguet Provincial Police Office (BPPO) for being adjudged as Outstanding PCR Senior PCO; Cpt. Basilio K. Hopdayan, Jr. of Mountain Province, who was adjudged as Outstanding PCR Junior PCO; Staff Master Sgt. Dwight Sean A. Arukod of the BPPO who was the Outstanding PCR Senior Police Non-commissioned Officer (PNCO); and Sr./Staff Sgt. Jeannet P. Pastores of BPPO who was the Outstanding PCR Junior PNCO.

For the unit awards, Benguet PPO was adjudged as Outstanding Police Provincial Office, Baguio City Police Office as Outstanding City Police Office, Station 5-Baguio City Police Office as Outstanding City Police Station, and Lagangilang Municipal Police Station as the Outstanding Municipal Police Station and also a national awardee.

The Regional Police Community Relations also recognized the following stakeholders of the different provinces for their support to Pro-Cor programs and activities: Carmelita Bersalona, chair of the Abra Convenor’s Group and Abra Provincial Advisory Council; Luna, Abra Mayor Josephine Bangsil; United Korean Community Association-BCPO; La Trinidad, Benguet Vice Mayor Roderick Awingan; Benguet- BPPO; Alfonso Lista Municipal Advisory Council; Florence Valdez, member of Lubuagan, Kalinga Municipal Advisory Council; Carmen Malabong, vice president of Mountain Province Youth Organization; Liza Agoot, bureau chief of the Philippine News Agency-Baguio City; and Cordillera Administrative Region Training Center. 

Certificates of appreciation were presented to the selection committee for Best PCR awards – Atty. Costa Joy Anniban, National Police Commission-Cordillera; Rene Vincent Ballug, Department of the Interior and Local Government-Benguet; and Prof. Albert Guinguino, Jr. of PRO-Cor-Regional Advisory Council.

Likewise, the Napolcom-Cordillera recognized the significant contributions of local chief executives for their outstanding service to the community and invaluable leadership, diligence, and dedication that paved the way for the promotion of community and service-oriented policing system and sustained good partnership among local executives, community, and law enforcement agencies.

The awardees are former Benguet governor Cresencio Pacalso, former Baguio mayor Mauricio Domogan, and La Trinidad Mayor Romeo Salda.

Diclas commended all the awardees and applauded the PNP for forging relationship with the community towards peaceful, orderly and harmonious community interactions.

He reiterated that corruption erodes people’s trust in government and institutions, and makes public policies less effective and fair.

“Let us build a strong and transparent institution that can turn the flow against corruption. Let us fight corruption,” Diclas said.

This year’s PCR Month has the theme, “Sambayanan, mahalagang kaakibat ng kapulisan sa pagtaguyod ng mapayapa at maunlad na bayan.”
