LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The Police Regional Office-Cordillera marked its 27th anniversary with the distribution of additional police vehicles and motorcycles to the different provinces.

“These will make our policemen more mobile to quickly respond to calls for assistance, especially in the hinterlands of the region,” said PRO-Cor Director Edward Carranza, during the blessing rites of the newly acquired police vehicles.

PRO-Cor acquired 24 units of 4x4 light personnel carrier (Toyota Hilux) and 12 Kawasaki Rouser 135 cc motorcycles as part of its upgrade plan for the year.

The 4x4s will be distributed to Abra, which was allotted three units; Benguet, five; Kalinga, seven; Mountain Province, four; Apayao, two; and Ifugao, two. One unit will be left with PRO-Cor’s Regional Public Safety Battalion.

The 12 motorcycles will be for the Baguio City Police Office and will be distributed to its 10 police stations, while the remaining two will be stationed at the BCPO headquarters.

Carranza said he expects the region to get additional police vehicles in the coming months as what was assured by the headquarters.

Benguet Gov. Cresencio Pacalso, who was PRO-Cor’s guest of honor and speaker during its anniversary celebration, lauded the efforts of the regional police for making the region “a safe place to live and conducive to business.”

The governor noted the police command’s increase in crime solution efficiency and the decrease in the crime volume in the region.

He also lauded PRO-Cor’s high rating in its performance governance system that led to its Gold Eagle Award.

The governor rallied local government units and the community to support the police in maintaining peace and order, emphasizing that teamwork is the key to fighting illegal activities.

Pacalso and Carranza led the awarding of merit to personnel of the command for their dedication, commitment, and heroic service.

The awardees were Supt. Sibly Dawiguey Jr., Senior Insp. Peter Angyoda, Senior Insp. Monroe Angpeo, SPO4 Rolando Banganan, PO3 Joenell Tampic, PO3 Denver Besic, PO2 Chuck Jexel Lozano, PO2 Erick Wakat, and PO1 Salvador Cadwagan, Jr.

La Trinidad Mayor Romeo Salda led the government officials who were honored for their support to the command. The other awardees were Tabuk City, Kalinga Mayor Ferdinand Tubban, Mayor Mariano Buyagawan, Jr. of Lamut, Ifugao, and Rev. Francisco Sanchez.

Also recognized during the program were the Benguet Electric Cooperative and the Bontoc Municipal Traffic Enforcer Volunteers Organization.
