Benguet, LT police are best in relations

The Benguet Provincial Police Office under S/Supt. Lyndon Mencio has been adjudged as the best in police community relations in the Cordillera during the culminating activity of the 23rd Police Community Relations Month on July 30.

The La Trinidad Municipal Police Station headed by C/Insp. Benson Macli-ing was also adjudged as the best municipal police station while its own Senior Police Officer 4 Rogelio Limbawan was named the best senior police non-commissioned officer regionwide.

The individual and unit awardees were honored at Camp Bado Dangwa, La Trinidad, Benguet during the culmination of the PRC Month celebration with the theme, “Tapat na sebisyo at paglilingkod ng kapulisan kaagapay ang mamamayan, hatid ay kaunlaran.”

Mencio commended his men for the success of the all-out anti-criminality and anti-illegal drugs campaign which greatly contributed in the accomplishment of the police’ mission and functions for a peaceful and orderly Benguet province.

“Benguet PPO also acknowledges and extends its gratitude to the full support and cooperation of the local officials from the province, municipalities, down to the barangay level and the community residents who made a contributory factor in the success of the Benguet PNP in its mission and vision,” he said.

Meanwhile, 19 persons were arrested in the one week police operation of the Benguet police from July 23 to 29.

Four of the suspects are top most wanted persons for rape, child abuse case, violence against women and children and estafa cases.

Likewise, nine have with warrant of arrests and six were arrested without any warrant of arrests for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs act of 2002, RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition, RA 6539 or the Anti-Carnapping Act, Presidential Decree 705 or Forestry Reform Code of the Philippines, PD 581 which prescribes a heavier minimum penalty for high grading or theft of gold from a mining claim/mining camp; malicious mischief, unjust vexation and qualified theft.

On the arrest made for PD 705 operations conducted in Bokod and Kabayan, a total of 302 board feet of pine lumber with market value of more than P9,000 and more or less 20 slabs were confiscated.
