Panagbenga blooms forward at 24

The 24th edition of the annual Baguio Flower Festival or Panagbenga has proven anew it is the most attended and most peaceful festival north of Manila over the past two decades with countless residents and tourists witnessing the grand street dancing and parade of floats, two main highlights of the festival.

This year also saw a marked increase of flower-bedecked floats with a record high of 28 entries that awed not only the crowd but also the organizers and panel of judges. The parade of flower-bedecked floats makes the Panagbenga distinct from any festival in the country.

The grand street dancing parade was also a display of pride and glory with various schools and groups showcasing their pride of place and culture during weekend’s show.

Even with a minimal budget compared to other festivals of the same magnitude with a funding of P40 million and above, the Panagbenga as captured by Courier photographers Ofelia Empian and Harley Palangchao has been successfully staged throughout the years.
