by Ofelia C. Empian

The Mountain Province Police Provincial Office will form a special investigation task group to handle the shooting to death of an anti-corruption advocate who was killed in his home in Bauko, Mountain Province in the evening of Sept. 2.

The MPPO reported that victim Salvador Liked, 44, was shot three times, bearing two gunshot wounds on his back and nape resulting to his death.

The report stated that prior to the incident, the successive barking of dogs prompted the victim to go out of his residence to check on the adjacent house owned by their family.

Upon checking the house, Liked then proceeded to walk back to his residence when the unidentified suspects shot him from behind at about 8:55 p.m. The suspects then fled to unknown direction on foot.

Police found spent bullet shells from a  45 caliber pistol.

Liked is currently a kagawad in Barangay Balintaugan and is instrumental in the sending of a request to national government for the construction of a proposed P20 million Balintaugan multipurpose barangay hall.

Early this year, the Office of the Deputy Executive Secretary for Finance and Administration from the Office of the President sent a letter to Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduardo Año asking the latter’s appropriate action on the request of the barangay council of Balintaugan for the construction of a multipurpose hall.

Liked was also the secretary general of Citizens Crime Watch against Corruption- Mountain Province chapter.

He and his group have filed dozens of alleged corruption cases against government officials and employees of Mountain Province before the Ombudsman, Commission on Audit and the Sandiganbayan.

The anti-corruption advocate also ran in the 2019 elections for vice mayor in Bauko but lost his bid.
