DFA, MP conducts mobile passporting
by Erwin S. Batnag

BONTOC, Mountain Province – The mobile passport processing of the provincial government in partnership with the Department of Foreign Affairs processed about 600 applications last Sept. 27.

Services rendered during the activity are renewal of expired passports and processing for new passports.

According to Executive Assistant to the Governor and Focal Person for Labor and Industry, Adelina Jocelyn F. Cullaling, the activity provided faster processing services within the province to minimize the expenses of those applying for a passport.

The provincial government announced the mobile passport processing services last August. The Provincial Employment Services Office also coordinated with municipal PESO officers to facilitate in the information campaign.

As instructed by the DFA, the provincial government began receiving application forms and the documents were forwarded to the DFA for verification as early as August. Cullaling said this ensured slots for the applicants. However, walk-in clients were also processed on the day of the mobile passport services.

Last April, the provincial government also invited the Professional Regulatory Commission to accommodate requests for license renewal. The move was in anticipation of the passport services since among the requirements include a PRC license as proof of identity.
