The grandeur of God’s creation
CAROLINE L. BELTRAN, Baguio City

The front page of the May 6 issue of the Baguio Midland Courier featured the Badi Falls in Sagubo, Kapangan, Benguet. Local and foreign tourists are awed by the magnificence of the falls and the river, according to the caption.

Viewing the Badi Falls and everything around it reminds us of the One who made them all. How wonderful the marvels of Kapangan and all the other parts of the world are when we know that God the Creator made them all.

We can nurture the spiritual interests of tourists as well as residents by taking them to God’s outside classroom where their love for the Creator can be cultivated by showing them the majesty of creation. The wonders of creation speak to everyone in different ways, but only those who know the Lord can give praise for His handiwork.

The earth belongs to God. The Psalmist said in Psalm 24 verses 1 and 2 that “The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to Him. For He laid the earth’s foundation on the seas and built it on the ocean depths.” The Psalmist praised the Lord for His creation and His ownership of it.

Our stewardship of the beautiful world God gave us, and our care for the people in it, express our reverence for God. Stewardship is the management and accountability for something that belongs to someone else, especially human stewardship of God’s gifts.

God has delegated the responsibility for the well-being of this earth to us. This includes appreciation and care for both nature and people. Nature is a good name for an effect whose cause is God, according to writer Dave Branon.

The natural world God has made must not be used at whim, a sudden, unexpected, and unreasonable devotion of the mind from its usual or natural course. To mistreat God’s creation is to offend the Creator.

As Christians, we are privileged to know the Creator of the universe. As we see the wonders of creation all around us, let us worship the One who designed them. The greatness of our God is seen in sky and sea and forest green and living creatures great and small.

The good old elementary years remind me of a poem on nature: “All things bright and beautiful. All things great and small. All things nice and wonderful. The Lord God made them all.”

All creation proclaims the glory of God who has showered His grace and love on us through Christ. Praise God for creating such a wonderful place for us to live. What a wonderful God.

The barangay is the foundation of governance in our country, thus the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections on May 14 is an important political exercise in which voters are enjoined to participate.

:: A cultural difference
I was told that the Japanese put premium to honor in their day-to-day living. It is incumbent for anyone in a Japanese household to guard the family’s reputation and not to expose it to any kind of shame.
