Choice for barangay leadership
PERCIVAL B. ALIPIT, Baguio City

The barangay is the foundation of governance in our country, thus the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections on May 14 is an important political exercise in which voters are enjoined to participate.

The candidates know best the resource potentials, interests, and concerns at the grassroots level. In choosing officials, consider the qualities a public servant must possess to be worthy of leadership.

Those learned with desirable reputation and dynamic personality, having been involved in community affairs, and could muster cooperation among constituents to follow ordinances, resolutions and in the implementation of projects deserve to administer development programs.

There are several issues that the barangay sets direction in food and nutrition, health care, environment management, waste disposal, peace and order, livelihood opportunities and social harmony of the village people. The performance of the barangays would describe the state of the nation.
