Be responsible pet owners
NAME WITHHELD, Baguio City

I understand people who love dogs, even treat them as their best friend, but couldn’t they clean the mess of their pets.

Noticeable in our locality are dogs’ wastes scattered in every nook and cranny of the city’s barangays.

I have witnessed this situation in our own barangay every time I pass by the streets at Bakakeng Central. Even when I just go outside our house, I smell the foul odor of dogs owned by our neighbors, who are unmindful of the welfare of pedestrians.

For sure, I am not the only one bothered by this problem, as even those in the neighborhood, who do not own dogs, complain of dogs’ wastes in the streets.

May I request concerned dog owners to leash their pets, while other residents must regularly clean their backyards or their frontage to get rid of the wastes of dogs.

The “Aso mo, itali mo” policy should also be strictly implemented to protect the public from getting bitten by dogs.

There is nothing wrong being a dog lover. But it becomes wrong when they are not responsible.

Being a responsible pet owner means properly disposing their waste and giving them proper care and hygiene. Maybe it’s time for our concerned barangay leaders to take a closer look into this situation.
