A suggestion for the Palispis–Aspiras Highway
ELMER APACWAY, La Trinidad, Benguet

The Palispis-Aspiras Highway (formerly Marcos Highway), a well-built and well-maintained road, is the most used road going up to Baguio City and to the rest of the Cordillera.

The past years, however, has shown that the highway has been besieged by the continued increase in traffic volume, especially when the lowland expressways (SCTEX and TPLEX) were opened to vehicular traffic.

To make it easier for motorists to go up to the city, why not the Department of Public Works and Highways convert the two-lane highway to three-lane as the highway has space on either side of it. DPWH might wish to review if it is viable to transform the highway into one lane for vehicles going down and two lanes going up. The farthest right lane would be for slow-moving vehicles.

I believe this would reduce traffic accidents in the highway and it would make driving up to Baguio and the rest of Northern Luzon even safer and enjoyable.
