Mall to host coffee festival

SM City Baguio will host a coffee festival from Sept. 24 to 30.

The festival will start with a Coffee Hangout Pop-up Weekend cafés and coffee shops will set up their booths and display coffee drinks, pastries, and other products for sale.

There will be a Barista Battle where participants will show their creativity through latte art. This is open to all Filipino coffee enthusiasts, home brewers, and baristas. Participants must be between 18 to 30 years old at the time of the competition.

Espresso machine, coffee beans, milk, milk pitcher, and coffee cup/mug will be provided but contestants may bring their own milk, milk pitcher, and coffee cup/mug.

The competition will be a single elimination, wherein participants will be paired up via draw lots.

The randomly chosen pair will then battle it out, and each winner will move to play another round until two competitors remain to fight in the final round.

The criteria for judging are 30 percent for latte art complexity, 25 percent for creativity, 25 percent for symmetry, and 20 percent for cleanliness.

The champion will receive P8,000 worth of SM gift certificates; 1st runner-up, P5,000 worth of SM GCs; and 2nd runner-up, P3,000 worth of SM GCs.

To register, participants must fill out the form that can be downloaded from SM City Baguio’s official Facebook page or simply head over to the SM City Baguio Administration Office, located at the lower basement parking lot where they will also submit the same. Registration is from Sept. 9 to 28.

There will also be a Coffee House Blends: Acoustic Weekend featuring bands to play relaxing tunes for everyone at the lower ground floor area Sept. 28 at 4 p.m.
