BONTOC, Mountain Province – Group performers and cheer squads are invited to join the 2019 Cheer Dance Competition as part of the activities of the 111th Bontoc founding anniversary and 15th Am-among Festival this month.

CouncilorJerome Tudlong, Jr., who also chairs the 2019 Cheer Dance Competition Committee, said the competition is open to high school and college cheer squads from the 16 barangays of Bontoc.

The competition will be Sept. 14, 9 a.m. at the Bontoc Municipal Capitol Quadrangle.

Each team is entitled to enter only one official group composed of eligible performers with not less than 15 members and not more 25.

A maximum of five members may be included who shall serve as spotters and/or props men for the team. The spotters and/or props men must be in black uniform (t-shirt, pants, and shoes). The performers must consist of male and female students who are officially enrolled in the school they represent.

The routines must be performed within a minimum of five minutes to a maximum of seven minutes. The time includes 30 seconds pre-setting and 30 seconds exit/pack-up and clean-up.
Five points shall be deducted from the final score of the team that went beyond their allotted time.

Routines may be accompanied by canned music and/or a band of the school they represent and must be appropriate for family viewing. Any vulgar or suggestive movements, words, or music may result in point deduction. Uniforms must also be decent.

To ensure the safety of the performers, pyrotechnics and other similar dangerous or hazardous props are prohibited. Only two handheld “safe props” to be used by the performers such as pompoms, flaglets, placards, and one banner/streamer are allowed.

Pyramid formation must be up to 10 feet high only and there shall be no dangerous lifting formation during the presentation to avoid accidents.

Interested groups may inquire and register at the Office of the Municipal Accountant, 3rd floor of the Bontoc Municipal Capitol.
