by Julie G. Fianza / PIO

Loyal and outstanding employees of the city government were honored during the 119th civil service anniversary celebration Friday last week.

Forty-one employees who retired from Oct. 2018 to Sept. 2019 were honored including City Accounting Office executive Ramon Micu who served as the occasion’s speaker.

Micu, a 25-year loyalty awardee reminisced working experiences and exhorted employees to remain steadfast in their respective duties, adhering to the code of conduct and ethical standards for public officials and employees.

Being the “backbone of public service,” employees are responsible for the smooth flow of services in local government offices to the public, Micu said.

Soledad Go who represented Rep. Marquez Go exhorted the awardees to serve with the highest standard of honor, decency, morality and integrity.

Ethics, Governmental Affairs, and Personnel (EGAP) committee chair Councilor Isabelo Cosalan, Jr. urged employees to look up to model employees as pillars and guide.

Public service should be given willingly, with dedication, readiness, patience, wisdom, empathy, and compassion, Cosalan said.

Professionalism is also a must for those in the government, he added.

The CSC has set standards and a vision to reality for progress and improved quality of life for the civil servants, with good governance for the next generation’s prosperity, it was known.

The city government honored city employees who served for 40, 30, 25, and 20 years, outstanding employees, as well as those who were able to finish their post-graduate studies.
Plaques of appreciation and cash awards were given to the employee-awardees.

The program aims to uphold the morale of government employees through the reward system for their loyalty, excellence and acquisition of higher education for a level-up standard of public service in various key offices and agencies. These are anchored on Civil Service rules, memorandum orders and other legislative action.
