AEWS from Kalinga awarded
by Press release

Three agricultural extension workers (AEWs) from Kalinga made it to the Outstanding AEWs’ list for the 7th National Quality Corn Achievers Awards (NQCAA) during the 15th Philippine National Corn Congress held at Iloilo Convention Center on Nov. 12 to 14, 2019, with this year’s theme, “Bountiful harvest and increased farmers’ income: Key to prosperity and inclusive growth.”

The NQCAA recognizes the achievements of top performing local government units and regional field offices of the Department of Agriculture in producing quality corn in support to the development of the corn industry, enhancing the corn cluster participation and strengthening DA-LGU partnership in quality corn products.

Recognized AEWs are Marvin C. Ladiwan of Pinukpuk, Kalinga which is his third consecutive time to be recognized; Victor C. Cayangao, AEW of Tanudan, his second consecutive recognition; and a first recognition for Emma Conception A. Fermin, AEW of Tabuk City.

“We are thankful for the support of DA-Cordillera, Agricultural Training Institute-CAR, the provincial and municipal/city governments through the local agriculture offices, our families, and friends because without them, this award and recognition would not have been possible.” Fermin said.

Led by DA Regional Technical Director Jennilyn M. Dawayan and regional corn coordinator Gerardo P. Banawa, the event was also attended by selected LGUs from the different provinces of the Cordillera.
