Kalinga prepares to host Cordillera Month
by Peter A. Balocnit / PIA

TABUK CITY, Kalinga – This province will host the 2019 Cordillera Month celebration in July with the theme, “CAR @32: Building one greater Cordillera.”

The different working committees have finalized their plans for the celebration, which will start with a gong relay around the provinces and cities of the Cordillera to kick-off on July 8 at the Capitol grounds here.

It will proceed to Apayao then Abra, Baguio City, Benguet, Mountain Province, Ifugao, and back to Tabuk City on July 14 for the culminating program on July 15.

The July 15 program will be highlighted by a parade and ceremonial tree planting at the Capitol grounds, program at the Kalinga Sports Center, audio visual presentations on the region’s infrastructure gains,  and  Kalinga’s potentials and legacies, delivery of the State of the Region Address, and ceremonial beating of the gong.

The opening is expected to be colorful with the tapestry show to be participated in by fashion models and beauties from around Cordillera.

The laga runway will also be a promotional venture for the weaving industry in the locality.

Visitors would also be entertained by Pasil’s Pakidum, a cultural carousel on Kalinga’s dance and music, and be offered the best of Kalinga’s hospitality with “slow food” menus of native and organic dishes for dinner.

There would also be short show about the “Mt. Spirit” filmed in Kalinga.

An agro-industrial fair at the Capitol grounds will display weaving products and souvenir items and overflowing coffee brewed from Kalinga’s finest coffee beans.
