A Manila-based firm is bringing the fourth Hair and Nail Fashion Show in Baguio City June 4 in its aim to showcase the latest on nail art, beauty, and wellness technologies.

The fashion show, which was first held in Manila, Cebu, and Iloilo, will exhibit a nail art competition and seminars on advance nail art, and the latest technologies that promote artful nail care, product safety and sanitation to current beauty professionals and those who want to develop their artistic skills or start their own business in the beauty industry.

Beyond outside beauty, the event, which will also launch its flagship nail polish brand in the city, aims to expand its advocacy of empowering women by embracing beauty and investing on their skills to succeed in their undertakings.

Baguio’s Rahma Manepbod, 37, is one of those whose success story stemmed from the time she failed in her first business venture a few years ago.

For one who has always been interested in arts, Manepbod, born to a Muslim father and a Cordilleran mother, found a way out of a bad situation through nail art. First, she suffered through the depression and difficulties due to a mismanaged food franchise where she lost around P4 million in invested capital, until she met Edz Santos, the marketing manager of Binondo Beauty Supply, a one-stop shop for salon supplies and top-of-the-line beauty and wellness needs which organized the event, in one of the earlier shows she attended. Santos took her under his wings and became his protégé.

In rising above her failures, Manepbod urged herself to acquire professional knowledge and expertise in nail art, which has long been a thriving industry in other countries and now also in the Philippines, and later on branched out on other beauty needs like eye brow microblading and hair care.

Now, she is a proud owner of two salon branches in Baguio City, which doubles as a training center for various fields of providing beauty care, the latest of which was that of professional artist and instructor Andy Pasion, who shared his expertise in eyebrow microblading to trainees in the city.

“It pays to invest in yourself. That is what I did, and it helped too that there are people who guided me along and provided support when I was in the process of getting up again from my failure,” Manepbod said.

Santos, who considers Baguio close to his heart, said empowering others, especially women, to succeed in reaching their dreams, is the company’s way of giving back for the trust and support that made their endeavors in the beauty industry succeed through the years, one of which is supplying one of the leading posh nail polishes in the country, with interior designer and philanthropist Tessa Prieto as its brand ambassador.

The nail art competition-fashion show will be held at Crown Legacy Hotel.
